Avocado tree
Names: Persea americana
Description: Can grow to 65 feet, the tree has evergreen leaves arranged alternately on it’s branches. Flowers are green / yellow and inconspicuous. Fruit is pear shaped and gets darker in color as it ripens.
Concern level: Low, only when horses exposed to avocado groves or trimmings.
Toxic parts: Leaves, seeds, fruit and bark.
Symptoms: Generally only affects mares and causes noninfectious mastitis, and sometimes gastritis and colic.
Danger: Not generally fatal.
