Name: Aquilegia, culverwort, granny’s bonnet, granny’s nightcap

Description: Perennnial herb plant that can grow up to 2 feet. Stems are branched and hairy. Leaves are pinnate. Flowers are showy and come in a variety of different colors.

Red & Yellow Columbine Flower

Concern level: Only during drought conditions, unpalatable.

Toxic parts: All parts of the plant are toxic, highest concentration in the seeds and roots.

Pink & White Columbine Flowers

Symptoms: gastrointestinal upset, lack of coordination, diarrhea.

Danger: Contain cardiogenic toxins and aconitum which affects cardiovascular system.
