Perhaps my most popular post, the list of horse movies has earned itself quite a bit of attention. While it’s a fantastic list, it’s getting too long, so currently I’m organizing them into categories based on their decade of release.
Today we take a look at horse movies of the 1980′s, which was a popular decade for horses on the silver screen. The bright days of dayglo inspired faves like The Man From Snowy River, Pharlap and Legend. Each one provides a brief description with links to their IMDB & where they can be purchased online. Enjoy!

Of all of the posts I’ve written my list of horse movies has been among my most popular. While it’s a great list, it’s gotten terribly long so I’m currently organizing them into categories based on the decade they were released.
Today it’s all about horse movies of the 1970′s, which happened to be a big decade for equine film. Lucky for us the age of disco spawned timeless favorites like The Black Stallion & International Velvet. It’s truly amazing just how many horse movies there are out there & I’m determined to organize them all. Although I may find other ways to categorize them as well, for now release dates seems to be the easiest way to get a handle on them.
Today it’s all about movies of the 1950′s, not a big decade for equine films, but with classics like The Courage of Black Beauty and Francis the Mule it’s not one to be overlooked. Each one provides a brief description with links to their IMDB & where they can be purchased online. Enjoy!

As the years go by and technology continues horse owners are able to find tack & equipment in a variety of snazzy designs. However there is something to be said for a good old fashioned saddle blanket (even if it is in a bright, unexpected color).
