Job Description
Usually answers to either the barn manager or the trainer and is responsible for overall maintenance and daily running of the facility, feeding, cleaning & administering of medication.

Requirements
Some employers will require a high school diploma for employment, but no formal education or training really exists for this position. Potential employers will be looking for someone with horse experience who is handy enough for routine maintenance.

It seems like there are definitely enough jobs in the equine industry, but the problem seems to be– where the heck to find them. I mean, a few sections here have “resources” but most don’t and the classifieds contain about 2 job listings… at this time. I have been looking all over for a job on a ranch or farm for months and everything seems to be a dead end. And, is it just me, or is the world bent on not giving you the experience needed without some sort of exorbitant price– whereas, in the old days, you just show up with some willingness and leave (if you ever leave) with experience. Square one is getting to be a harder and harder place to be.

I previously had a stable hand job in Melbourne but i moved up to Queensland so i had to leave,
i can clean stables/paddocks, wash/groom horses, rug/unrug horses, saddle up, ride (jumping/dressage, treat minor illnesses (such as small cuts, worms etc.), train horses, feed horses and the list goes on:)
Even if you cant pay i would consider doing it for free lease of one of you horses (or just the ability to spend LOADS of time with a particular horse:) )

I’ve ridden both English and Western, participated in sports such as Barrel Racing and some Pole Bending. I love horses, and I try to be around them as much as I can. I’ve ridden both English and western, English more so with a little jumping tossed in. I’m more than willing to learn on the job. I love horses, and I try to be around them as much as I can. I’ve mucked stalls, cleaned water buckets, groomed horses. I actually enjoy picking hooves, but so far have no knowledge of clipping – willing and wanting to learn! I also clean tack, sweep up isles and maintain the absence of cobwebs. Can also school the horses in basic manners on the ground or under saddle.

Then from 12-16years old I took english lessons, along with helping feeding the horses, cleaning the stables, sadles ect. I loved every minute of it. I also for a summer job at camp horse stable. Hello! My name is Kelley and I will be 20 years old soon. I have been riding and competing with horses since I was 4 years old. Since first grade to grade 13 I have learned how to clean stalls due to me being 4H. At the State 4H Horse Show in Minnesota I got 100% on all the days for Herdsmanship and won Honorable Mentioned. I was the only one from my county competing so all chores were based on just me. Ever time the farrier comes, I’m the one holding our horses. Trust me, some of our horses are not very fond of the farrier so they tend to get pretty wild but that doesn’t stop me. I am very brave when it comes to wild horses. I’m not scared of them at all. I’m even willing to just jump on one.

Hello, i am 12 years old and i ride horses. i have been riding since i was seven. i jump about 2 feet 9 inches with stirrups and without and i’ve jumped 3 feet a couple of times. I love challenges, especially in riding. I am not afraid of wild horses and i have trained a green horse before. I have been a student at MSU majoring in Agriculture but decided to take this semester off to get some hands on experience and work. I would be willing to get trained for an amount of time into whatever you would be willing to train me in! I love love love animals and people! I can be around people all hours and be happy :). I enjoy conversation and people that know me would for sure say I am an up beat spirited character! I hunt fish and camp as well as ride and have done some volunteer services as well;) I am an excellent cook which many people enjoy that part of my package as well as my horse! I can cook about anything I’m givin! I have been told that I make people feel very comfortable and safe! I bring a bright smile wherever I go even If I’m feeling a little blue! I take after my name and have a lot of Faith in God, people, myself and animals! I am very willing to work hard to get where I need to be and to do whatever I am told even if it doesn’t make sense to me:) and that is something many people do not find. I find that it is easier to work with someone who wants and is willing to learn then someone who thinks they already know everything. i currently ride at J&S Stables and Riding Academy. I have been riding horses for 6 years and would love to have a part time job working with horses. i have experience working at a stable because i used to work at a small farm in exchange for lessons. i can work Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The only problem is i cant work until after i get out of school which would mean i wouldn’t be able to get to your stable till around 4:00pm but i could always work late :)i have helped train many green horses before and i love working with horses trained or not
