Marysville's Equine Rescue Association Needs Help
We all know times are tough and that rescue facilities are filling up at an alarming rate. Tragic really, that there are hundreds of thousands of unwanted horses in the US alone every year.
No Change In The Forecast
This is a problem that has gotten continually worse – and no doubt will continue to do so as more jobs go and feed prices rise.
A Sweet Lady and 30 Sick Horses
The Marysville Equine Rescue Association is a rescue operation that takes in unwanted, abused and sick horses. The amazing woman who founded and runs the operation is Vel Moore.
The woman is a saint, she takes in “companion” horses who have no place left to go. Most of them are old and have medical problems so their chances for adoption are slim. Especially in this ever-increasing disposable horse world we seem to be living in.

If you want to like Vel even more, she runs a volunteer program for troubled teens, helping them learn kindness and responsibility through horse care.
The farms only paid employee was once one of those teens, but Vel’s place and animals left such an impression on her that she stayed to be a part of it.
The Clincher
Vel is 76 years old, recently suffered a broken leg and is confined to a wheelchair at the moment.
I don’t need to say anymore – they need help. The woman is 76, has 30 special needs animals and the place is run on donations and volunteer time.
If you can spare a few dimes or a bale of hay or if you live in the area and want to lend a hand, check out their horse heaven website for more information.
I am interested in getting my daughter Elaina involved with this she is 14 yrs old.- she isnt a troubled teen, but I think this would be a wonderful experience for her. Please let me know of any weekend volunteering she could help out with-
My girlfriend does this in Bend OR, and our love for horses, thats what sparked my interest~
Kindest Regards,
