Brassica species, Wild Mustard

Description

Can be annual, perennial or biennial. Leaves grow alternately. Flowers are usually yellow, but can be found in white, blue and purple with four petals. Seedpods are broad and flat. This plant stinks.

Only during drought conditions, unpalatable. Plant can be incorporated into hay.

All parts of the plant are toxic, especially seeds.

Gastrointestinal pain, excessive salivation, diarrhea, irritation of the mouth.

Danger

Contains Isothiocyanates which cause irritation of the digestive tract. Large quantities can be fatal.
