Dieffenbachia
Names: Araceae, dumb cane, charming deffenbachia
Description: A perennial tropical plant with tough stems and leaves. Leaves are pointed, large and marbled with white / yellow. Flowers grow in a spadix surrounded by a spathe.
Concern level: Only during drought conditions, unpalatable. Often found in landscaping and gardens.
Toxic parts: All parts of the plant are toxic.
Symptoms: Pain, swelling and burning of the mouth and throat, diarrhea, gastrointestinal upset.
Danger: Contains calcium oxalate crystals which can be fatal.
