Kafir lily

Names: Clivia miniata, bush lily

Description: Bulb perennial, leaves are dark green, strap shaped and arise from a fleshy stem. Flowers are orange (yellow is rare), trumpet shaped and grow in a cluster at the end of the stem.

Kafir Lily (Clivia)

Concern level: Only during drought conditions, unpalatable.

Toxic parts: All parts of the plant are toxic if eaten in large quantities.

Symptoms: Gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea, excessive salivation, colic, collapse, paralysis

Danger: Contain lycorine alkaloid which can be fatal.
