Capture A Legend
The painting is of a famous Irish racehorse named Istabraq, and the canvas was 10 feet by 3 feet. The subject of this large undertaking was voted on by the Irish public, and Istabraq won as the nation’s favorite race horse of the last 25 years. Istabraq was a racehorse bred to run flat courses, and wasn’t very good at it. It was later discovered that he had an insatiable appetite for hurdling, where he went on to prove himself a champion.
