Another new week means another new plant to be on the lookout for. Today’s plant looks like it is older than time itself, the Dracaena Palm is one tough character.

A Little About Dracaena Palms

Dracaena is also called Dragon Tree. This is a slow growing plant that looks similar to a palm and grows up to 20 feet tall. Leaves are long, flat and slender with red/green/yellow stripes. White flowers grow in spikes. Fruit starts green and turns orange as it ripens.

How Dangerous Is It?

This plant is highly unpalatable and its is rare an equine would be desperate enough to try. However this plant contains a highly toxic principle and animals should be kept away from it.

All parts of this plant are toxic and can be fatal to equines.

What To Look For

You know your animal the best, so you should know when something is amiss. Dracaena Palm toxicity symptoms include gastrointestinal distress, dilated pupils, difficulty breathing, drooling, loss of coordination and depression.
