Kimberly Santini Revisited

Kimberly's ArtTuesday is artist appreciation day & today it’s all about the work of Kimberly Santini, another artist I found via Twitter.

Artist of the Week

Todays artist can create lifelike animals with lightning speed. Using simple strokes and soft colors she brings her subjects to life with an ease most of us only dream of. Not just a horse artist, Kimberly is an artist with a love of all animals.

Keeping Up With Kimberly

Be sure to visit her website at www.TurtledoveDesigns.com or subscribe to her blog at ksantini.blogspot.com to see her latest stuff & you can always find Kimberly on Twitter to keep up with her work. Here are some quick quotes & my favorite images from her interview, you can read her whole interview here.

“I’m from a small town in Michigan. Grew up like most normal small town kids, feeling like a misfit and not sure what exactly what I wanted (other than a horse) but definitely wanting more than my current offerings.”

“And sometimes I have to let a piece just go, be done with it, because it will never measure up to what’s inside my head. Those are the toughest paintings, the ones that haunt me, and some will only sit on the easel for 30 minutes before I realize they are too ambitious for my current skill set.”

Black Horse

“The right music – it’s got to match the sunlight (or lack thereof), the painting, and my mood. Itunes makes it so easy to get this right every single time.”

Rest Hachi & Tribute Dog Collar

“The internet has also provided me with an opportunity to discover other artists, actively seek their feedback, build friendships and even mentoring relationships. This has allowed me to grow my skill set exponentially, all from the comfort of my own home, whilst sitting in my jammies with bed head at the computer.”

Enjoying the Artists

Hope you enjoyed this artist re-visit & that you’ll check out Kimberly’s full interview to learn more about her & her work. Stay tuned because next week we’ll be re-visiting an interview with horse artist Sara Johani.
