Moving to another country of the world and the lovely horse breeds its given rise to. It’s fascinating to look at each breed in the context of their origins and today it’s all about breeds from Colombia.
Traditional Breeders
The Columbian landscape is interesting in that it is the only country in South America with borders on both Pacific & Atlantic coasts. The resulting landscapes are as varied as can be imagined and only parts of the country are suitable for horses. In keeping with South American tradition they have developed their own strains of the Criollo and Paso Fino breeds.
Tourist Transport
The Colombian breeds were developed primarily as agricultural aids and for transportation. While they can still be used in both capacities today, perhaps the most driving force behind the horse market is tourism.
