This is a rather unique position within the horse industry & one that allows for a great deal of flexibility. The experience required for being a horse transport specialist must include four wheels (& sometimes even 2 wings) as well as four legs.

Changing Gears

There is a higher percentage of men in this field of the horse industry, especially in long haul aspects of it. Horse owners have a number of different reasons for needing horse transport which requires a high level of adaptability on the part of the transporter.

This requires a knowledge of travel options, and the connections to ensure each animal has a good experience & gets where they need to be.

This is perhaps one of the most flexible horse jobs of them all, and also one of the most important. Often horses are just part of the deal and many animal sitters must have experience with any number of friendly pets.

Watching Other People’s Pets

This is a career which demands a lot of hands on time with the animals, as well as effective communication skills with their owners. This is a position which benefits from strength of character, a flexible attitude and the ability to think quick & be versatile.

Hands on Experience

Other than experience with animals there is no real tangible skill set for being an animal sitter. Regardless of the type of animal, each one has its own personality and own specific care requirements and being able to follow directions is a necessity.

Stunt Ride

There are a wide range of professions that can employ a stunt rider position, including everything from big Hollywood films, to stunt acts to traveling shows.

Ouch!

A challenging job for even the most athletic person, this is a position which requires a rock hard constitution and bones made of rubber. Beyond the obvious, a stunt rider needs a solid relationship with a well-trained animal and hours and hours of practice falling off a horse.

Often a starting off point for ambitions jockeys-to-be, a groom is one of the entry level jobs working with horses. Despite this fact, it takes a lot of grit and a serious knowledge of horses to do a great job.

Master of All Trades

The groom wears a number of hats during a normal workday and many tasks will fall under their command. However this is a position that benefits from a solid knowledge of horses, strong communication skills and a teamwork ethic.
