    We are looking for help with mucking and feeding. Staff will be invited to, but not required to participate in clicker training horses.

    We have horses of various levels, from babies who have never been touched to donated stallions worth thousands of dollars. We have the most need for colt starting, but will only allow you to ride if you carry trainer’s insurance.

    We are a non-profit organization so there are volunteers and visitors in and out all day long. Staff must be able to operate in an incredibly distracting environment while still being friendly to surprise visitors.

    You can live in a 5th wheel at the ranch, we can rent you a quality apartment off site, or you can make your own accommodations. We offer use of a truck and a gas allowance.

    We have a roundpen, an arena with jumps and trail obstacles and the property backs up to trails. We have tack you can borrow if needed.

    Our trainers attend shows regularly and there is opportunity to bring your own horse.

    We can offer pasture board for your horse.

    The climate in this area is very tolerable - 300 days of sun per year, about 45-55 most winter days, about 80-90 most summer days. There is a community college and a 4 year college in town so it is possible to go back to school while working at the ranch.

    People working at the ranch will gain significantly more experience in dealing with injuries and health issues than people working at a squeaky clean show barn. You see the real thing here and learn how to deal with it. You will interact with our vet and farrier weekly and will learn a great deal about nutrition and first aid.

    There is an outhouse at the ranch, a microwave, and two refrigerators so it’s easy to snack at work.

    You will have the opportunity to have your training methods challenged by all horsenalities and horses of all skill levels. We offer the rare opportunity to train 100 horses and instruct 10-20 volunteers a day should you choose. Salary: trade

    The Working Student Position:
    Being a working student is a valuable learning experience not only for improving your riding skills, but also in what it takes on a daily basis to be competitive at all levels. You will learn about fitness programs, proper turn out and care of the horses for everyday riding as well as for shows, as well as having the opportunity to ride and learn from many different level horses. You will improve dramatically from 4 lessons a week and being in a goal orientated program.

    Working Student Jobs:
    As a working student, you will be expected to do stalls, feed, blanketing and turn out, tack cleaning and other jobs around the barn on a daily basis. Most days there will be an opportunity for you to ride, be it in a lesson or on a hack. You will also be expected to be as neat, tidy, and organized as possible. There is also an opportunity to earn extra funds by bathing client’s horses, being a show groom, clipping, pulling mane, etc…

    Typical Day:
    6 – 7(ish) am Barn chores am- feed, turn in/out, stalls, etc…

    Most of the horses are in pastures. However, they are fed twice daily. We have young horses needing hands on attention and or breaking to ride. We have a few special needs horses.

    We stand two stallions and do A.I. breeding.

    General farm care consists of minor fence repairs, mowing the grounds, round bales out and keeping things neat in general. Of course any other abilities in the maintence of the farm is a plus.

    Showing the horses is fine if the individual desires to do so.
