Horse Breeds Beginning With J

Horse breeds that start with JThe breeds section is finally completed and with that I’m celebrating a big job well done. Although it will only remain finished until I find more breeds I have yet to list (which is inevitable).

If you haven’t met the rest of the alphabet, be sure to do so A | B | C | D | E | F | G | H | I. Today it’s about breeds that start with J, from the highly adaptable Jabe Horse from Kazakhstan to the enormous & powerful Jutland known for their association with the Carlsburg brewery – pulling the beer.

Interestingly enough, a large proportion of the breeds that begin with J possess Mongolian origins.

Big Daddy J’s

Perhaps the oldest of the J breeds the Jabe, their bloodlines date back to 400 BC. Then there is the Jinhong Horse which has been raised in relative isolation, making them incredibly pure of blood.

Personal Favorite J’s

The J’s are small, but even smaller when you eliminate the few that are listed other names as well. Many of them are Chinese breeds and that makes them more difficult to find images of. however, I do like the Java Pony which is perhaps the most robust of the Indonesian pony breeds (but not usually the prettiest). There is also the Jielin which is a relatively recent breed (late 20th century) from China.

The Whole List

Here it is, the full list of breeds that begin with J. If I’m missing something, let me know and I’ll add it to my list (don’t want to forget anybody).

What’s Your Favorite J?

Mine has to be the Jutland, if only for their sheer bulky size (and characteristic blond hair). I do hope you’ll leave your favorite in the comments below then have a look at some more letters of the alphabet. A | B | C | D | E | F | G | H | I
