It’s Friday again, time to visit another country of the world and all of the varied horse breeds it’s given rise to. Looking at each breed in the context of their origins is truly an interesting ride. Today a look at the breeds from England.
Good Things in Little Packages
The UK in general is known for their riding ponies of all shapes and sizes – the variety is almost endless. Perhaps one of the most colorful found in England is the British Spotted Pony. This spotted little fellow doesn’t come from appaloosa horses, but rather thought to be a native to the British Isles. In fact, spotted ponies may have been there before mankind ourselves.
Looking Ancient
As ponies are a source of great pride, perhaps one of the most bragged about is the Exmoor Pony. This is an animal whose descendants have inhabited the British Isles for nearly 100,000 years. Perhaps the purest ancestors of the original North American horse (that went on to populate the rest of the world with equines). Due to their geographical isolation and protected condition, the physical & biological purity of this breed continues to persist.

Horses of the World
There is a whole worlds worth of countries to visit, so be sure to keep yourself updated. Please let me know in the comments below if I’m missing any horses of the England & check back next week for the breeds of Estonia.
Please view this web site and email me if you can help us. Funds are desperately needed so we can continue with our love for the safe haven of horses so cruelly neglected and abused, mis-treated.
I hope you care enough about horses to motivate you to help us. Many thanks in anticipation.
