Horse Breeds Beginning With Q

Horse breeds that start with QIt’s horse breed Thursday again and time to meet another letter of the equine world. The breeds section has hundreds of amazing animals from all around the world.

If you haven’t met the rest of the alphabet, be sure to do so A | B | C | D | E | F | G | H | I | J | K | L | M | N | O | P. Today it’s about breeds that start with Q, from the mysterious Qatgani Horse of Afghanistan who I could find nothing about to the well loved Quarter Pony an American classic.

The Q’s are always one of the smallest letters, which means you have plenty of time to meet each of the 4 members.

Big Daddy Q’s

The Q’s being such a small letter means that I get to share a line about each one. There aren’t any ancient breeds in this category, but new or old each one deserves a mention. The large rumped Quarter Horse is the oldest North American breed and is incredibly versitile; and their little brother the Quarter Pony who are essentially a smaller version of the famous Quarter Horse.

Personal Favorite Q’s

There are only two more Q’s that haven’t been mentioned so they will both fall under my favorites this week. The hard to nail-down Qatgani who I’d love to learn more about; and the interesting Quarab mix, bringing some Arabian refinement to the tough Quarter breed.

The Whole List

Here it is, the full list of breeds that begin with Q. If I’m missing something, let me know and I’ll add it to my list (don’t want to forget anybody).

What’s Your Favorite Q?

Picking one of four Q’s as my favorite feels like I’m turning my back on the other three. But I’ll have to go with the Quarab because I like the idea of combining two bloodlines that each have their own striking physical characteristics. Be sure to leave your favorite Q in the comments below then go visit more of the alphabet. A | B | C | D | E | F | G | H | I | J | K | L | M | N | O | P.
