Also called the Karabairskaya, the Karabair breed is one of the most ancient breeds originating in central Asia. They were developed in what is now known as Uzbekistan and northern Tajikistan which are both areas known for breeding high quality horseflesh.

Originally built for work in Ireland, the Irish Draft / Draught or Irish Sport Horse bloodline was almost lost, however a revival movement managed to keep the breed alive. These horses are built in large part by the difficult climate, making them big and hearty.

Also called the Iomudskaya & the Yamud, the Iomud comes from Turkmenistan and is a descendant of the ancient Turkmenian breed that was developed by the Iomud tribe in southern Turkmenia.

Indian Country Bred Horse

Origins

The Indian Country Bred Horse comes from the Himalayan region of India and is a combination of the Bhutia, Spiti & Tibetan pony bloodlines. These animals have been cross bred for so many years that the distinction lines between each breed have blurred.

Hungarian Draft

Intro

There is not a coldblooded horse native to Hungary, however during the 18th century draft animals were brought with them. These larger & more robust animals were particularly valuable to a land filled with lighter animals and were often traded for. These animals became known as the Hungarian Coldblood, Magyar Hidegveru and Hungarian Draft.

Also called the Croation Pasavac, Posavina Horse, Posavina & Busak Posavec, The Hrvatski Posavic comes from the flood plains of the Sava River in Croatia and their numbers are very low today.

Hrvatski Hladnokrvnjak

Origins

Also called the Croatian Hladnokrvnjak, the Hrvatski Hladnokrvnjak is the most common horse in Croatia and comes from the north west. They are a large draft type horse bred for heavy agriculture work & meat production. Sadly as the 20th century eliminated the need for animals in agriculture the main reason they are bred is meat & milk production.

Average height 16 – 17 hands

Physique

Head is large & wide
Back is long with well sprung ribs
Chest is broad & deep
Legs are strong and moderately feathered
