Origins

The Auxois owes some of their bloodlines to the Ardennais and the two breeds are very similar in size & shape. In addition to Ardennais blood the Auxois lines contain a cross between Bourguingnon type, Percheron and Boulonnais blood.

Like many draft breeds, the Auxois was used for transportation and industry until mechanization rendered their work obsolete.

Their numbers are dangerously low today.
