Romanian Trotter


The Romanian Trotter or the Trapas Romanesc was developed in Muntenia in Romania as a result of the growing trotting industry.


Breeding of the Romanian Trotter began late in the 19th century when American, French & Russian trotters were imported for the sport. These animals were crossed with local Nonius & Furioso mares. Today this is a rare breed.


Average height 15.2 – 16


Head is well proportioned
Eyes are expressive
Neck is muscular
Back is long & strong
Legs are long & muscular with strain joints
Hooves are hard
