Intro

The Rottaler or Rottal is a native breed of lower Bavaria in southeast Germany & is the only indigenous breed of Bavaria. Their name comes from the Rott River which runs through the area.

The Rocky Mountain Horse comes from eastern Kentucky early in the 20th century and shares bloodlines with the American Saddlebred & Tennessee Walking Horse all of which carry Spanish blood in their veins.

Mountain Pleasure Horse

Origins

Also called the Country Saddle Horse, the Mountain Pleasure Horse is a gaited breed that has been breed in Kentucky for over 160 years and was the foundation for the Tennessee Walking, American Saddlebred & Rocky Mountain horse breeds. Despite it’s contributions to other breeds, enthusiasts have continued the bloodlines of this old-time horse selecting for gait & disposition. This is an old school breeding society that does not encourage breeding for show.

Lac la Croix Indian Pony

Origins

Also called the LLCIP, the Lac La Croix indian Pony is an incredibly rare breed from Ontario, Canada. They are thought to have evolved in the 19th century & come from a cross between the smallest strain of Canadian Horse crossed with Spanish Mustangs of the southwestern pains. Currently their numbers are very low, but enthusiasts have established breeding programs to preserve this heritage breed.

Known worldwide for the symbolic “H” branded into their hindquarters, the Hanoverian is one of the most well-loved and wide-spread of the European warmbloods. These horses have made a name for themselves in the Grand Prix competitions.

Also called the Deutsches Reitpony & Weser-Ems Pony, the German Riding Pony is a relatively new breed that was developed as a pony with horse like characteristics and retaining a horse type. They are often described as mini warmbloods.

Gayoe

Origins

Also called Kuda-Gayo, the Gayoe is a pony that comes from the island of Sumatra & the name comes from the Gayoe hills on the island. This pony is closely related to the Batak, Deli, Bali, Java, Sumba & Timor ponies. Perhaps the most closely related to the Batak, the Gayoe is known as a stockier branch of lesser quality.

Intro

The Galiceño comes from Mexico & is relatively new in the US (since 1958). Like many of the horse breeds from the Americas, they owe their bloodlines to Spanish animals.
