Also called Foutanké, the Fouta breed is a light horse that comes from the Baol region of Senegal in western Africa. The Fleuve & M’Bayar breeds were combined to form one breed under the Fouta name, however those strains were thought to have evolved from the Barb.

Fleuve Horse

The Fleuve comes from Senegal in western Africa. They were developed by crossing Barb animals with the local pony breed. This breed is the foundation for the Fouta breed.
